With a width of 3.75 meters (12 feet), this initial plot is only just wider than the French windows that let onto it. The length of 8.75 meters (29 feet), was for-shortened by a bushy bay tree and the straight, narrow borders were quite uninspiring. Width ways there was barely room for a table and chairs.
The clients’ brief was to create a real room outside. Raised beds should provide the main planting for real ease of maintenance. A modern feel was part of the request, although with respect to the cottage. Lighting should be included but I agreed that a water feature was not really needed.
