Sustainable garden design
Timber is obtained from a variety of sources but will always be from sustainable resources. We have used a variety of construction methods often reducing or avoiding the need for cement based mixes. Unwanted paving, concrete and masonry is recycled on-site as hardcore as much as possible, which reduces carbon emissions by both cutting down on cement usage and haulage simultaneously.

Other recycled materials can include;
Glass aggregate which can be resin bound into structures such as lights, panels, water features etc. or as a loss top dressing.

Steel, such as flooring panels, which can be re-shaped and re-galvanised to be as good as new. Joists, panels, grills and the like can be incorporated as appropriate.

Timbers, from sea defences can make very effective sculptures as well as providing very strong structural elements of a rustic nature. Roofing timbers have been used as a pergola and flooring could make effective decking if treated appropriately.
Shredded tyres are currently used effectively beneath turf to reduce compaction, in the most heavily trafficked areas of public spaces. They are also recycled as coloured pieces for a loose safety surface.

Masonry, paving, or tiles can be used to create a feeling of maturity in a newly created space.

In creating complimentary planting schemes for our designs we often look to use native species. This can help to give an integrated feel to a garden in the British environment as well as being good for wildlife. The broad range of plants, found in a planting scheme for year round interest, will attract a fantastic range of wildlife, even without native plants. Biodiversity is well accepted as an important part of a sustainable environment and all but only a few introduced plants are a problem in the British landscape.
